On Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the Black Star Square, the Presbytery will climax its 100th anniversary celebration with a Thanksgiving Service.
The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as the Special Guest of Honor will grace the occasion with the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante preaching on the theme for the year-long celebration: “Grateful for our Heritage, Forging ahead in Unity and Faith.”
A number of artistes have been invited, including ASP Kofi Sarpong, a Presbyterian and chorister scheduled to lead the service’s praise and thanksgiving, together with the Presbytery Mass Choir and a singing group.
Members of the Ga Presbytery and beyond, particularly invited guests from other faiths and para-church groups, the media, and friends of the Presbytery are also anticipated to attend the service.
A centenary brochure chronicling the Presbytery’s 100-year journey will be on sale at the venue.
The Presbytery was one of the original five Presbyteries established by the church in 1922. It is now the most cosmopolitan Presbytery, and as a result of its ethnic diversity, it has been given the name “Rainbow Presbytery.”
The Presbytery covers the area from Tema in the east to the main road connecting Accra to Nsawam in the west and extends up to the foot of the Akuapim hills in the north. It is made up of one Mission Field and 27 Districts.
The celebration was launched by the Rt. Rev. Prof Mante beginning of the year.
In order to unite the different districts within the presbytery, a number of fun events were organized after the launch.
A health screening exercise, youth rally, musical festival, public lectures and fun games were a few of the events organized. Also, there was a heritage Trail to historic sites of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
