Induction of Rev. Col. David Adoteye-Asare as Ga Presbytery Chairperson, at Eben-Ezer Congregation, Osu, on October 6, 2024.

Rev. Col. David Adoteye-Asare was inducted into office as the Chairperson of the Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG). The induction service, held at the Eben-Ezer Congregation in Osu, marked a significant milestone in the life of the church.

The Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, officiated the induction. He was supported by the Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor and the General Assembly Council.                                              Delivering the sermon, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye urged the congregation and the Ghanaian community to resist the temptation of wealth accumulation at the expense of societal welfare. He emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship, particularly decrying the destructive activities of illegal mining, known as galamsey, which have devastated Ghana’s forests and river bodies. He also admonished Ghanaians to desist from littering the country’s beaches. He explained that. the Lord calls us to empty ourselves of pride, greed, selfishness, and other vices. He congratulated Rev. Col. Adoteye-Asare, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the Ga Presbytery, which he described as controlling a significant portion of the Presbyterian Church’s resources. He, also, reminded the newly inducted chairperson that his role was one of service to God and the church.

In his address, Rev. Col. David Adoteye-Asare expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who had supported him in diverse ways throughout his ministerial journey, from family members to classmates. He urged all Districts and Congregations in the Ga Presbytery to ensure excellence in their operations, stressing the importance of maintaining high standards in everything, from church signposts and chapels to washroom facilities.

Concluding, Rev. Col. Adoteye-Asare reiterated that his primary passion is the glory of God. He made it clear that any policies, decisions, or actions taken within the Presbytery must align with this purpose, or they would be met with his resistance. “Everything we do must be for the glory of God,” he asserted.

The ceremony was a profound reminder of the responsibilities that come with leadership in the church, and the newly inducted Chairperson vowed to carry out his duties in faith and service to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
