Rev. Mrs. Artishia Nana Owusua Svanikier of the Ashaiman and Community Two Districts has been inducted as the new Director of the Presbyterian Women’s Centre, Abokobi at a service held at the Abokobi Zimmerman Congregation on the theme, “Walk in the ways of the Lord”.
The Clerk of General Assembly,of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Dr. Samuel Ayette-Nyampong assisted by the Director of Church life and Nurture (CLAN), Rev. Bio-Kyeame took Rev Svanikier through the induction service rites. She succeeded Rev Esther Adjetey who retired late last year.
Rev Dr. Samuel Ayete- Nyampong, in a sermon urged Christians to not be discouraged about their decision to follow and serve the Lord for when a person makes such decision it becomes difficult to be understood by friends, family and worldly people.
“As Christians let our Christianity be seen at home, workplaces, market, church and everywhere you go. You will be called names, mocked and ridiculed but be determined and the Lord will never disappoint you but will continue to bless you”, he said.
Rev Dr. Samuel Ayete- Nyampong advised Rev. Svanikier to remain focused on the call and the Lord will be her strength adding you should not be discouraged from the things you’’ will hear he said.
Rev. Svanikier thanked the General Assembly Council, her predecessor, family and friends and assured them she will work to the best of her ability with the support of the staff and Board of Directors to move the Centre forward.
She asked for prayers and support from all church members to enable her to continue what her predecessors have started.
Rev. Svanikier has served in a number of congregations in the Ga and Dangme Tongu Presbyteries including the Ascension congregation at Tema Manhean and is on a number of committees including CLAN, counselling, education and evangelism until her appointment as the Director of the women’s centre.
She holds an Executive Master in Business Administration (EMBA) and a BA Hons in Psychology and Religion both from the University of Ghana, Legon.
She is married to Mr. Hansen E.L. Svanikier and with two children.
