A Leadership Development Centre at Presec, Legon, which will also serve as a “Junior Seminary”, for the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has been inaugurated. The event took place at the Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School, Legon on Wednesday, 14th November 2012. The Centre will train the youth in their understanding of leadership and prepare them for the future.
At the opening ceremony, the Chairperson of Ga Presbytery, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor said the centre will add value to the life of the students and open up new areas of discovery, communicate fresh insight and give them the leadership tools necessary for the future. “What shall it profit a student if he gains first class in academic work but have no leverage in leadership skill, morality and spirituality?” he asked.
95 students have so far registered with the centre. The ceremony was chaired by Rev. Prof. David N. A. Kpobi, former Chairperson of Presbytery and also a past student of Presec, Legon. A six member board headed by Rev. S. K. Mensah, District Minister of Tema Community 2 District was inaugurated to run the Centre. Other members of the Board are, Rev. Dr. Nana Opare Kwakye, Rev. Martin Kumi, Mr. Africanus Anane and Rev. Erasmus Laryea, Chaplain of Presec and Co-ordinator of the Leadership Development Centre. Present at the function were parents, Ordained Ministers and leaders of the Presbytery.
