Ga Presbytery School Of Ministry Welcomes 19 Fresh Student-Catechists

The Ga Presbytery School of Ministry (GPSM) has admitted 19 fresh students to be trained into the Lay Ministry as Catechists of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. Their training will last for two years and after which will be consecrated into the Catechist Ministry of the Church
Rev. Dr. B. Y. Quarshie, AkrofiChristerlla, Rector and the Chairman of the Board of the Ga Presbytery School of Ministry, speaking on the theme “Lay Training Critical for Church Growth” thanked the Ga Presbytery for the concept of the school describing it as laudable.
He stated that there are people who think that the lay ministry is not a recognized ministry in the church, adding that it is important for persons who are consecrated into the ministry to accept that they have also been called to help grow the church of God.
Rev. Dr. Quarshie said the institution has come to work around the clock to address avoidable challenges associated to lay ministry in order to make it attractive to both the young and old in the church.
He appealled to candidates who wish to use the Catechist ministry as a stepping ground into the ordained Ministry, to refrain from that, adding that God has call some to be Apostle, some Teachers, some Pastors and that they should see it as such.
The Chairman of the School, asked the students to avail themselves to their lecturers who have developed themselves with skills to impact them theologically.
He advised the new students to work diligently towards achieving their dreams.
Rev. Dr. Jonathan Ayitey Mensah, Director of the Ga Presbytery School of Ministry, swore in the matriculants, after which Rev. Joyman Otchwemah ushered the Trainees to sign the matriculation Book.
Earlier on the Clerk of the Ga Presbytery, Rev. William Quaye, who stood in for the Chairperson of the Presbytery assured the students and the school of the full support of the Presbytery.
The ceremony was graced by some members of the school board and the teaching staff, they are; Rev. JoymanOtchwemah (Registrar), Rev. Dr. G. A. Dadzaa (Rtd.) (Member), Rev. Kennedy Owiredu (New Testament Lecturer) and Rev. Nii Anan Blebo (Hebrew and Greek Lecturer).
The other lectures are; Rev. Enoch Pobee (Old Testament), Rev. Mark Boye (Homiletics), Rev. T. S. Akunnor (The Ministry of the Catechist) and Rev. Dr. Isaac Fokuo (Bible Study Methods)
